NEW! DI-3000 Can Now Send Output Directly To Imagen Laser Printers!

Kent De La Croix

It is now possible to send the output from DI-3000 applications including GRAFMAKER, contouring, and PicSure, directly to an Imagen laser printer.

To get your DI-3000, GRAFMAKER, or contouring output printed on an Imagen laser printer you need to use one of the newly installed ``i240'' or ``i300'' device drivers. The ``i240'' driver is used with the ``ei2'' and ``ki'' Imagen laser printers and the ``i300'' driver is used with all other Imagen laser printers. To use the ``i300'' driver you would use the ``1=i300'' option of dibuild when linking your application. Then when running your application you would send the output to an Imagen laser printer using the ``-l'' option of lpr. To use the ``i240'' driver you would simply use ``1=i240'' in place of ``1=i300'' in the dibuild command. For example, the commands:

        $ f77  -c /usr/lib/di3000_demos/tstd03.f
        $ dibuild. 1=i300 tstd03.o
        $ a.out | lpr  -Pxi  -l

would cause the output from the tstd03.f demonstration program to be sent to the ``xi'' Imagen laser printer.

To print a graph created using PicSure on a Imagen laser printer you first need to save the graph as a metafile. Then you can print the metafile by using one of the newly installed ``MDi240'' or ``MDi300'' programs and sending the output to the printer using lpr's ``-l'' option. The ``MDi240'' program is for use with the ``ei2'' and ``ki'' Imagen laser printers and the ``MDi300'' program is for use with all the other Imagen laser printers. For example, the command:

        $ MDi300 meta | lpr  -Pxi  -l

would print the graph saved in the metafile ``meta'' on the ``xi'' Imagen laser printer.
