Welcome Tim!

The School of Mechanical Engineering welcomes Tim Kechkaylo to the position of Programmer Analyst. If his name sounds familiar, it might be because he previously worked for the Engineering Computer Network as Software Support Specialist. If you haven't had a chance to meet Tim yet, please stop by his office in ME 242a and do so.

New ECN Faculty Designate

Professor Keith Hawks is the newly appointed Assistant Head of the School of Mechanical Engineering. One of the many hats that he wears in this position is that of the ECN Faculty Designate for ME. We look forward to working with Prof. Hawks in this capacity.

Schlumberger CAD/CAM Division Makes Donation

The Schlumberger CAD/CAM Division (formerly named Applicon) recently gave a $370,000 software donation to the School of Mechanical Engineering. The gift consisted of software upgrades for the BRAVO CAD and Graphics System, which was donated by Applicon in 1983, as well as a new family of manufacturing software products that run on Sun workstations. The BRAVO System is based on a Vax 11/750 running the VMS operating system and several color graphics Applicon stations. It has been used since 1983 for CAD instruction in our undergraduate program. The School is looking forward to using the Sun workstation based software in our undergraduate curriculum in the future.

Good Bye

At the end of May I will be leaving Purdue, so I'd like to take this opportunity to say good bye to you. My family and I are moving to Houston, where I have accepted a position with Shell Oil. Over the past six years as the ME/ECN site specialist, I have enjoyed the chance to work with many fine people in Mechanical Engineering, as well as the other Engineering Schools. I especially acknowledge the professional experience that I have gained from working with the outstanding staff of the ECN. I take with me a lot of good memories of my Purdue years.
