Printers on the Go!

Kent De La Croix

While you were gone for the summer several of the EE printers were moved to the new MSEE building. In order to keep straight which printers are in which building, we have renamed the printers that were moved. Here is a list of the printers and with new names and locations.

Old name New name in MSEE

ed5 msd 189a
ed6 msd2 189a
ep msp 189a
ep2 msp2 206
pi msi2 230

If you formerly sent program listings to the ed5 printer by typing the command

                        lpr -Ped5 prog.f

you could now send it to the msd printer in MSEE 189a by typing

                        lpr -Pmsd prog.f

Understanding that every once in a while you might absentmindedly type the old printer name, a temporary safety-net will "catch" your misdirected printing job and send it to the proper MSEE printer. Each time you do this, you'll receive a WARNING message reminding you to use the new name. The "name catcher" for old printer names will be removed on September 15th; so please get into the habit of using the new printer names by then.
