The ECN No Name Newsletter is no longer being published. This is an archived issue.
[previous article] [next article]Shown below are new fonts that can be called from troff and printed on an Apple LaserWriter. The troff command .fp (font position) is used to replace one of the nine default fonts shown in the table below with a new font. Font names are one or two letters, such as R for Roman or HB of Helvetica-Bold. The troff command .ft (font type) is used to switch to a new font. Unfortunately, the program "suntroff" does not know how to draw any of these new fonts, so it can not be used to preview the text. However the "tc" program can be used to preview text, but will not show the different font shapes.
More information is available about using fonts in troff in the ECN #330 DWB User's Guide, The Formatter troff, pages 3-8.
