New DWB Font Catalog

By the start of the Fall semester, a new ECN publication, DWB Font Catalog & ECN DWB Manual Revision, will be available for sale at the Armory. The "DWB Font Catalog" section of this publication will be composed of three main parts:

a font tutorial that...

gives a general overview of troff font usage, such as:
- changing font sizes and types
- working with fonts when using the mm or ms macro packages
- working with fonts in conjunction with the preprocessors pic, tbl, grap and eqn
font family reference tables that...
- provides a section for PostScript (Apple LaserWriter; now with nearly 30 different fonts available) and a section for imPRESS (IMAGEN 300 dot per inch). Each section will have type and size examples for each font and show all the characters available. This will be handy when you need to determine which font will look best in your document and which point size will best suit your needs.
a comprehensive character table that...
- contains dozens of alphanumeric and special characters available when using PostScript and/or imPRESS printers. This table will act as a quick reference guide when you need to use mathematical notation or want a special symbol in your paper.
The ECN DWB Manual Revision will also be included in this publication (these are the hard copy versions of the on-line DWB "man" pages). With the advent of DWB (DOCUMENTOR'S WORKBENCH) 2.0, these manual pages have been revised not only to show changes from version 1.0 to 2.0, but also to reflect the local ECN environment.
