ECN Manager ARRESTED For CHARITY

The Manager of the Engineering Computer Network, Bill Simmons, was arrested by the American Cancer Society during the weekly ECN staff meeting on July 25. Infractions cited included talking too long at these meetings. He was taken to a jail in Market Square and, after appearing before a judge, was given one hour to raise the bail set. The judge instructed Bill to inform contributors that they had the option of directing their dollars to be used as bail money or it could go toward his continued confinement. Instinctively Bill called on his staff for assistance. It is rumored that most contributors chose the second option. It might be noted that the University's raise policy for this year had already been announced.

Bill raised over $350 for the American Cancer Society during this hour. His staff members thank him for his good humor.
