ECN Access And Usage Policy Document

Bill Simmons

In the early years of the Engineering Computer Network a paragraph was included on each student's account generation form explaining that Engineering expects each student to use the Engineering computer resources properly. Later the paragraph grew to fill the back side of the form and still later both sides of a separate sheet were required. Once again, we have updated the explanation. This time we have coordinated the contents with similar documents of other Universities, referenced applicable legislation, and consulted with the Purdue Dean of Students Office concerning student's rights and responsibilities.

This document marks no new policies or practices, but is intended to present more thoroughly Engineering's ongoing expectations concerning use of its facilities. We would like every ECN account holder to have a copy of the August 1992 ECN Policy On Access and Usage. If you have not received a copy of this booklet, please contact your site specialist.

The document will probably be updated each year. Please forward comments for future revisions to Marian Delp (login: marian) of the Engineering Computer Network.
