Sending Faxes From Your Workstation Or Terminal

You now have the ability to send ASCII text, dvi TeX, troff, and PostScript files to a remote fax number. No longer do you have to print a hard copy of these files, walk over to a fax machine, fill out a coverpage and scan, then send one page at a time.

This NetFax has the following capabilities:

• configurable coverpages
• send one file to multiple recipients
• send "message only" faxes (just a coverpage with a message)
• "Carbon Copy" faxes sent to yourself (fax machine or LaserWriter)
• delayed transmission (to after 11PM, when rates go down)
• aliases: phone number, MERS number, recipient

System users interested in accessing NetFax need to contact their site specialist to get permission. Once a user has been added to the "master access file", this system can be used from any terminal or workstation on the ECN. Note: Macintosh users, you can use this fax system now with any terminal emulation application you do with your Mac. However, a complete (very nice) Macintosh fax system is in the works for Macintosh machines only. Keep your eyes and ears open for it!
