NO NAME NEWSLETTER Article, September 1993

Greg Roslansky

The Engineering Computer Network (ECN) uses two methods to inform system users about time sensitive topics.

  1. Message of the Day (MOTD)

The MOTD will appear whenever you login. A listing of one or two line messages will provide brief information with directions on where to locate a more complete coverage of the topic.

  2. purdue.ecn.announce

This newsgroup expands on the information presented in the MOTD and allows the users to choose when and how to read these articles. The posted articles can be read using a news reader (rn, nn, xrn). For more information about reading news see the article Reading News At Purdue on page 13. Announcements will address such issues as: software reports, short course cancellations and updates, computer/network down time, and anything else that may affect the ECN user.
