EA Machine To Be Retired

Kent De La Croix

By the end of this semester the EA machine should be the last remaining VAX host at the Engineering Computer Network. Therefore plans are currently being made for the permanent shutdown of the EA machine on June 30, 1994. Thus we ask that all tasks being performed on the EA machine be moved to other hosts as soon as possible. This shutdown will cause two notable side effects:

---there will no longer be an ISN connection into ECN

---the webster command will no longer function at ECN
REMEMBER: If you log in to EA for any purpose (unique software, personal programs and scripts, courtesy accounts, etc), this retirement will affect you. If you need any assistance or have any questions or concerns please contact your site specialist so that we may work together to ensure that the June 30th shutdown will have a minimal impact on your work.
