It happened again. I visualized myself at a White House press conference! I knew exactly what I wanted to say. I had even brought my note pad with me with the questions I wanted to ask him. My once in a life-time opportunity to ask President Clinton anything I wanted and I blew my chance. Everyone around me was asking him questions and I just sat there listening without a sound. They were asking him questions about the environment, health care, education, abortion, AIDS, and many more issues. This dream was the same as the others, I stood up to speak, all eyes were on me, I glanced at my note pad, even though I knew what I wanted to ask. The president pointed to me and the room turns quiet and everyone waited for me to say something, but I just sat back down, and was silent.
The above was just a dream, but I know what I am trying to tell myself, "Speak up, voice my opinions, be an active citizen!"
Today the administration in Washington is making it possible to communicate electronically. Yes! You can send e-mail to the White House just as you would send e-mail to your friend! The White House requests that when sending e-mail to the President or Vice President you limit yourself to one issue per message and one message per day. A staff is in place to process electronic mail and make it an integral part of the White House communications system. Some (not all) of the mail is forwarded to the President and Vice President for review.
Now I can raise my voice with comments about how I feel regarding drug trafficking, the homeless, NAFTA, family values, the job market...whatever, and so can you. Don't pass up your chance to communicate to the White House. Send your e-mail to the following addresses:
Internet: President@WhiteHouse.GOV
Vice-President@WhiteHouse.GOV
I was curious as to whether I could obtain the recent press
releases and speeches of President Clinton from the White House.
To learn how to proceed, I sent email to
"President@WhiteHouse.GOV" using "Send Info" for the subject
line and then stated my request for information in the body of
the message. I received a response in less than five minutes
with instructions to follow on how to obtain documents and
publications from the White House.
