FrameMaker And ECN

NO NAME NEWSLETTER-- May 1995

William R. Simmons

In 1994, Frame Technology released a new Educational licensing program which provides campus-wide access to the FrameMaker document publishing tools for most platforms. The program cost is $85,000, with similar recurring cost each two years for support. The program was reviewed by many campus units. In the end, not enough support was identified to fund the licensing agreement for the campus.

Currently ECN maintains five floating FrameMaker licenses that are available from ECN Suns, HPs and IBM RS/6000s. Being only five in number, the licenses are only useful for demonstration purposes. Approximately 40 other dedicated FrameMaker licenses are owned within Engineering.
