The Boiling and Two Phase Flow Laboratory (BTPFL) specializes in phase change processes, with a focus on boiling. Since two phase systems produce significantly higher cooling rates than single phase systems, boiling is utilized in many engineering applications such as electronic cooling, nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics, cooling of ultra high heat flux devices, and spray quenching of metallic alloys during material processing. The BTPFL performs both fundamental and applied research.
