Beneficial changes have happened over the summer to the books the ECN places in the Sigesmund Engineering Library. For many years, the ECN has placed books and software manuals on reserve in order to make this material available to students. The problem was, few knew these materials were there, so few used them.

We didn't think this was good enough. After discussing the situation with Jill Smith, circulation library assistant and Charlotte Erdmann, acting head for Sigesmund Library, it was decided to donate the reserved texts to Purdue's library system. This means they will be in the library's database (searchable via THOR) and that students can check these materials out of the library.

Variety Of Titles

A few of the titles that are now in general circulation are:

Beyond these, there are a number of less far-flung, presumably more practical subjects, such as UNIX commands and programming languages. As more books on these subjects are published, we will continue to add them to the library to provide students with the assistance and information they need.

The Purdue Library's THOR (THe Online Resource) is available by using telnet or typing "http://thorplus.lib.purdue.edu". The list of ECN additions to the Engineering Library is available on the World Wide Web at the above URL.
