For about a year now the ECN has provided information on its WWW server about campus engineering student organizations.
This fall the web pages are being replaced by the online version of Syndesis, a yearly handbook of the organizations published by the Purdue Engineering Student Organization Directory (PESOD) Committee of Purdue Engineering Magazine.
All the old information will be kept more up to date, plus much more, will now be available at the URL appearing to the right of this article, The pages are created as they are requested from the Syndesis database of student organization data. In addition to the mission statements and contact information that was formerly available, the new Syndesis pages also contain much of the information in the published version of the directory.
The 55 organizations are also categorized in several ways and are even searchable. This permits users to locate organizations by school affiliation or by role (i.e. honoraries, outreach, or minority organizations). A form is provided online for organization officers to submit updates or changes to the PESOD Committee for inclusion.
Staff, students and especially organization leaders are invited to view the new pages. Comments and suggestions are welcomed. Please send them to me at bbarrett@ecn.purdue.edu. (see related article Why Generate On The Fly.)
