New VISE Lab Created

A new Video and Imaging Systems Engineering (VISE) Laboratory will be opened during the 1996 Fall semester. This lab is co-sponsored by the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and the Psychology Department. The VISE lab contains:

Undergraduate and graduate students taking ECE courses in image processing, video, signal processing, multimedia networking and other graphics related courses will benefit from the new equipment. In addition, at least one Psychology course will be making use of VISE. Only students registered in courses that will need the lab will have access to the workstations.

Hewlett-Packard donated the initial equipment. The machines are currently housed in MSEE 184 and are valued at approximately $400,000. Donations totaling $2,400,000 are expected over the next two years which will enable the lab to expand to 40-60 workstations from the current ten.
