Minimizing Impacts at the Local or Plot Level
At the local or plot level some of the strategies that may be adopted are:
- Implement low-impact development designs
- Incorporate natural features in design and apply conservation design principles
- Protect critical areas, such as buffers around streams
- Reduce pollutant sources on all surfaces
- Slow storm water runoff and encourage infiltration
- Prevent soil erosion and sedimentation
- Introduce land drainage and flood prevention facilities
