Minimizing Impacts at the Regional Level
At the regional level some of the strategies that may be adopted are:
- Consider the long-term impacts when selecting a site for specific land uses
- Reduce urban sprawl by using more compact development styles
- Approach issues at a regional watershed scale
- Modify zoning and subdivision ordinances, as necessary
- Allow land use density transfers and transfer of development rights
- Minimize impervious areas in zoning and design details
