The Advanced input page should be used in one or more of the following situations.
1. The user wants to calculate the nps pollution for pollutants other than the standard pollutants
2. The user wants to enter pollutant expected mean concentration (EMC) values other than the default values for these pollutants.
3. The user wants to specify a LAND USE other than the default LAND USES for a given land area.
To change pollutants and EMC Values
Once a landuse is selected for a particular area, the default EMC values for the chosen landuse are displayed for the following pollutants:
Nitrogen
Phosphorus
Suspended Solids
Lead
Copper
Zinc
Cadmium
Nickel
COD
BOD
Oil & Grease
Fecal Coliform
Fecal Strep
If the user wants to change the EMC values used, she/he can do so in the cell below the corresponding pollutant.
Further if she/he wants to change the pollutant itself, she/he can do so by replacing one of the pollutants by the pollutant and pollutant EMC desired. The units for all concentrations are in ppm ,except the last two(fecal coliform and fecal strep) which are in number per 100 ml.
To Enter User-specified LAND USE
To enter a LAND USE not specified, the user must chose the option "CUSTOM LAND USE" in the LAND USE options. Two windows appear, one after the other asking the user to enter the name of the new LAND USE and the curve number for the same respectively. Once these values are entered, the options menu in the
"SELECT LANDUSE similar to Custom Land USE" column becomes active, and the user must now chose that LAND USE in this column that is most similar to the new LAND USE that she/he has specified. Once the user does this the EMC values for the selected LAND USE are displayed for all the 12 pollutants. The user can change these pollutants or the EMC values as described above.
