Notes on the Plastic Zone Progress Window

STOP -- the stop button can be clicked at any time to discontinue the analysis. The next time WinCONPOINT is directed to begin computations, it will start with the first uncomputed entry in the analysis queue. Also, additional entries to the analysis queue can be made while comptuations are running, so it is not necessary to stop the analysis to do so.

Input Line Number -- this value corresponds to the number of the entry from the Analysis Queue that this currently being processed by WinCONPOINT.

Progress Bar -- this graphic displays how many of the elements in the plastic zone have been computed so far during the present iteration. When the progress bar is full, all elements have been computed.

Element Displacement -- this number is the radial displacement of the last computed plastic element.

Element Phi -- this number is the
angle of internal friction of the last computed plastic element. This number depends on the soil model specified in the input parameters.

Element Radial Stress -- this number is the radial stress of the last computed plastic element.

Element Radius -- this number is the distance from the inside edge of the last computed plastic element to the center of the cavity.

Limit Pressure -- this number is limit cavity pressure computed during the last full iteration of the analysis.

Error -- this number is the difference in limit pressure computed between iterations.

Iteration -- this number is the number of iterations completed for the analysis after the last full iteration has been completed. Note that this number will reset during calibration chamber analysis as WinCONPOINT attempts to optimize the value of
plastic zone radius so that the correct value of cone radius is found for the cavity radius.
